Every morning, we here in Sunset Park, are fortunate to have some live music and dancers to watch while walking the dog, jog or... work.

Today I finally got the courage to shoot these ladies. They were happy to let me.

Attention Young Photographers! Your Assignment:

"In February, NPR's Backseat Book Club is reading Shooting Kabul by N.H. Senzai. It's about a boy named Fadi, who finds his voice — and his lost little sister — through photography. Since the book is all about places, people and photos, we'd like to see the things YOU love.
Maybe it's a person — a sibling, a grandparent or a teacher. Or maybe it's your favorite spot — the garden outside your window, your secret hiding nook. What's important to you? Submit photos here!
If you're a kid and you're reading this, share your photos. And if you're an adult and know an aspiring photographer, share this assignment.
We may feature some of your pictures on our website."

The above passage is written on NPR's site. I will also post pictures here if get them on the SsPK Flickr pool and call it "NPR assignment".

What you see in Sunset Park Brooklyn 1970s

Do you have old pictures of you and your friends in out on the street in Sunset Park? We'd love to see them. Please consider posting them on the SSPK Flickr pool.

Click here to see another photograph from 1984 and shot in front of the building on 6th ave and 44th street.

Graffiti Subway 1977

Via Flickr:
Subway Graffiti inside a West End line train in 1977. So prolific was graffiti in the 70s, it was actually considered an act of insanity to even speak of attempting to remove any of it.

What I saw in Sunset Park: Slightly Snowy

Slightly Snowy, originally uploaded by veesvision.
This was how it looked this morning on m way to school, although this shot was taken a year ago.

Just wanted to take this opportunity to highlight 2 Sunset Park community groups that were mentioned this morning during Counsel member Christine Quinn's speech:
Si Se Puede (http://www.wecandoit.coop/) and Center for Family Life (http://www.cflsp.org/)
Both groups are helping Counsel members Sara Gonzalez and Christine Quinn inspire citizens of NYC to pass the Dream Act. These groups are an excellent example of what  living the American Dream is about.

Thank you!
